Job Description: The leading center for the training of Arab journalists is looking for a new director. The Center administers the only graduate degree in television and digital journalism in the Arab world and carries out a host of grant-funded training and publishing activities for Arab journalists and media scholars. Responsibilities include providing the vision to lead this internationally, regionally and nationally recognized center, overseeing the MA in Television and Digital Media; supervising technical staff operating a television studio and related convergent newsrooms and edit labs; managing a variety of external training programs and online publishing activities; developing grant-funded proposals for future projects; liaison with potential funders, which include foundations and Western governments; and teaching at least one graduate course. The director takes a high profile, giving speeches and appearing on panels at professional and academic conferences in the Arab world and beyond. The Director will hold a concurrent faculty appointment in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Requirements: The ideal candidate will be a high profile international television journalist with experience in the Arab world, as were the previous directors. She/he has at least some industry/ management/administrative experience. Previous teaching experience in television journalism, news gathering, scriptwriting and/or online/multi-media journalism and an appropriate graduate degree OR substantial professional experience are preferred.
