Job Description

New England Newspaper and Press Association (NENPA), a new organization with a long history, is seeking an experienced manager to assume overall leadership of the association. NENPA is the result of a merger between the two leading trade associations for newspapers in New England and will continue to provide services and programs to help members publish better and more profitable newspapers.

 

The ideal candidate will be an experienced newspaper or media industry professional with the ability to supervise and manage volunteer committees, work with media company management and juggle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. Strategic and political savvy to strengthen and advance the organization is extremely important. A collaborative leadership style with a demonstrated record of successful management experience is required.  High energy, excellent communication skills, strong public speaking skills and an entrepreneurial drive is necessary.  Candidate should possess the ability to think strategically, tactically and creatively within budget limits.

 

The Executive Director reports directly to the board of directors of the association and is responsible for all day-to-day operations, including financial, staff, equipment and program supervision.  The primary function of the executive director is to promote growth and excellence in New England newspapers through networking, continuing education, technology and recognition.

 

This is a contract position, renewable annually. Contract terms will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
