Position Title:

Director, School of Journalism and Mass Communication (Job #998258)

 

The Kent State University College of Communication and Information invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication to start July 2012.

 

The Qualifications:  Candidates should be senior scholars or professionals working in journalism, advertising, public relations and/or electronic media with a distinguished record of leadership and achievement.  They should possess:

  • The vision to recognize and address the challenges and opportunities emerging in a rapidly changing media landscape.
  • A desire to engage faculty, staff, students and colleagues from other disciplines as part of a team.
  • A dedication to diversity and inclusion.
  • Proven experience in fiscal management.
  • An ability to work with professional and academic constituencies.
  • A commitment to leading an academic unit dedicated to both scholarly and professional missions.
  • The capacity to contribute to a creative, educational and innovative environment that fosters quality teaching, research and professional practice.
  • An ability to create and nurture strategic interdisciplinary research, curricular and extramural funding partnerships and fund-raising opportunities.
  • A Ph.D. with strong professional experience is preferred, but truly exceptional professional experience will be considered in lieu of the Ph.D.
