Full-Time. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Northwest Arkansas edition has an opening for a higher education reporter with at least two years’ daily newspaper experience. The newspaper seeks candidates whose published clips demonstrate an ability to develop topic-driven, enterprise news stories regarding higher education or government.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is the state’s largest newspaper. The Northwest Arkansas edition covers a 12-county market in the northwest corner of the state. The metro area comprising the central part of the edition’s coverage area is home to the University of Arkansas and corporate headquarters of Wal-Mart Stones Inc., Tyson Foods Inc. and JB Hunt Transport Services.
The successful candidate must be equipped to write well-organized, multisourced stories about complex issues on deadline. Knowledge of Associated Press style is required.
A bachelor’s degree in journalism is preferred.
